About the breakout technologies

What makes a technology a breakout?

Each category is ranked by the company websites a technology gained over the last four weeks, after those that dropped it. The leaders are the tools companies are adding fastest right now.

What does the pace bar show?

How fast a technology is gaining for its size. A long bar on a smaller tool means it is gaining quickly against the websites it already runs on.

Which categories does the board cover?

Ecommerce platforms, CMSs, web frameworks, analytics, session replay, advertising, marketing automation, email and SMS, AI, chat and support, payments, reviews, consent, hosting and security. A free account opens every other category on the board.

Can I see which companies adopted a technology?

Yes, with a free account: the ten companies that took up each technology most recently, with the day each added it. The Fokals MCP and API list every company running it.

What does week by week show?

The net gain in each week, for every 10,000 websites checked that week, so a busy week and a quiet one compare fairly.

How often is the board updated?

Every week, as of Sunday. The four weeks move on with it.
