1. Who we are
Fokals is operated by Vertex Innovation Collective Ltd. This notice covers the Fokals website, the application behind the sign-in, and the data products. For any question about it, use the contact form.
2. What our data products hold about people
Our products describe companies, not people. They are built from what companies publish themselves and from public records. In particular:
- Contact details found in job descriptions (email addresses, phone numbers, personal profile links) are removed before anything is stored.
- The individuals named in SEC filings (officers, directors, promoters, signatories) are never read.
- A leadership change is kept as the company's own dated statement. The role concerned is labelled; the person is not stored. No profile of a person is built and no person is followed from one company to another.
- No social network is read. No visitor, cookie or device data is collected or bought.
An announcement excerpt is the company's own published text and may name a person as the company named them. If you believe information about you appears in our products and want it removed, use the contact form. More on sourcing: sourcing and compliance.
3. When you send us an enquiry
The contact form asks for your name, work email address and company, what you are interested in and your message. We use them to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not share your enquiry with anyone outside Fokals except the service providers in section 6.
Enquiries are deleted 24 months after they were sent. Messages we mark as spam are deleted after 30 days. To have yours deleted sooner, use the contact form.
4. When you have an account
An account holds your email address and the record of your sign-ins. We use them to let you in, to keep the Service secure and to contact you about it. Actions that change settings or keys are recorded with the account that made them. API keys are stored only as a hash.
5. Cookies and tracking
The public website sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. When you sign in, the application sets the cookies that keep you signed in, and nothing else. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google when it loads a page. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs that include IP addresses, for security and to keep the service running.
6. Who processes it for us
We use a small number of service providers, who process data on our instructions: Vercel (website and application hosting), Supabase (database and sign-in), Render (background processing) and Resend (email delivery). They are based in or operate from the United States, so your details may be processed there.
7. Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. To do so, use the contact form. We answer within 30 days. If you are in a place whose law gives you the right to complain to a data protection authority, you may do so.
8. Changes
We may update this notice. The new version is posted here with its effective date. Our Terms of Service govern the use of the Service.
