HubSpot completed its acquisition of Clearbit in December 2023, and today HubSpot documents data enrichment as a feature of its own CRM. That suits a team whose records are in HubSpot. This guide is for the other case: company records held in a product database, a warehouse or another CRM, to be enriched through an API or from files. It sets out where Clearbit stands on its own pages, which vendors enrich company records by API, and how to rebuild a company record on datasets you load into your own systems. Each statement about Clearbit, HubSpot or another vendor was read on that company's own pages on 4 October 2026 and carries its link.
Each product is built for a different place. HubSpot's enrichment is built for records that live in HubSpot. Clearbit's home page describes data for leads and contacts, the companies behind your website visitors and shorter forms. Fokals is built for records that live in your own systems: firmographic, technographic, hiring and intent data on one company index, every value dated, delivered by REST API and as bulk files, and licensed for internal use, embedding in a product or redistribution.
Where Clearbit stands today
The facts below are on Clearbit's and HubSpot's own pages.
- Ownership. HubSpot's announcement of the agreement in November 2023 said Clearbit would remain available as a standalone product once the acquisition completed, and would be integrated into HubSpot's offering over time. The press release on completion, dated 4 December 2023, calls Clearbit a wholly owned subsidiary.
- The Clearbit site. The home page carries the headline that Clearbit has joined HubSpot. It describes data for leads, contacts and accounts, industry codes and corporate hierarchies for scoring and routing, the identification of companies behind anonymous website traffic, and form shortening. Its links lead to a customer login, a status page, support and legal terms.
- What was withdrawn. Clearbit's changelog announced that the free Clearbit Platform, the Weekly Visitor Report, Clearbit Connect, the TAM Calculator and the free Slack integration would be discontinued on 30 April 2025, and that the public Logo API address would no longer be available after 8 December 2025.
- The terms. The Clearbit Terms of Service, last updated on 30 May 2025, say that HubSpot, Inc. provides the Clearbit services under its Clearbit brand.
- Inside HubSpot. In 2024 HubSpot introduced Breeze Intelligence as its data enrichment and buyer intent solution. Its help article, now titled Get started with data enrichment, says a company is enriched from its domain and that the data comes from HubSpot's commercial dataset, third-party providers and publicly available information. What enrichment costs, and which plans include it, is set out on HubSpot's product page.
How a new customer buys Clearbit on its own today is not stated on these pages, so put that question to HubSpot before you plan around it. The guide to HubSpot Breeze Intelligence covers the HubSpot side in detail.
What Clearbit and HubSpot's enrichment are built for
- Records in HubSpot. Enrichment runs where the records are, and its cost and plans are on HubSpot's product page.
- People. Clearbit's home page describes data for leads and contacts, with roles and seniorities normalised, and HubSpot's help article says a contact is enriched from a name and a work email address.
- Identifying website visitors. Clearbit describes turning anonymous website traffic into intent signals with IP intelligence.
- Shorter forms. Clearbit's home page describes form shortening, which belongs to a form tool and not to a data feed.
- Revenue and funding totals. HubSpot's list of enrichment properties includes annual revenue, revenue range and total money raised.
Why a team outside HubSpot looks for an alternative
Each reason is about fit.
- Scope. Your product needs facts about companies, and your privacy review is shorter if nothing about a person enters the pipeline. Fokals is company-level data throughout.
- Delivery. The records live in your own database, so the data has to arrive as an API response or a file that your jobs fetch and load.
- Licence fit. Clearbit's terms permit use for the customer's own business-to-business sales, marketing and business development, and say that product data may not be built into the customer's products or services unless an order expressly permits it. A product team needs terms written for embedding, whichever vendor it chooses.
- A different kind of data. An attribute describes a company at one moment. Some uses need its actions and their dates: a tool adopted, a role opened, an announcement made, a capital raise filed, each with its source. Fokals delivers each of these as a dated record on one company ID.

Other vendors that enrich company records by API
Each is described from its own pages, read on 4 October 2026.
- People Data Labs. Its Company Enrichment API matches one company against its company profiles, and its input parameters include a name, a website, a ticker and a social profile. See the guide to People Data Labs alternatives.
- Dun & Bradstreet. D&B Direct+ delivers business data through APIs and integrations, organised around the D-U-N-S Number, with firmographics, hierarchies, ownership structures and risk indicators.
- Veridion. Veridion describes company data built from web crawling, registry ingestion and public data assets, and shows an API with a company match endpoint.
- ZoomInfo. ZoomInfo Data-as-a-Service delivers company and contact data into a CRM, a data warehouse or internal systems through APIs, webhooks and scheduled batches.
Rebuilding a company record on datasets you load
An enrichment API answers one record at a time. With Fokals you load the datasets, keep them current and run the lookup against your own copy, so every record is enriched in one pass and every lookup stays inside your own systems. Three steps get you there.
- Load once, then follow. The first load is a bulk export in JSON, JSON Lines or CSV, and its manifest names the period, the label versions and the licence. After that, the feeds of website changes, postings and signals run oldest first from a time you set, so the last cursor you stored is the bookmark for the next run. The API reference lists the endpoints.
- Match on domain. Technology Stack and Web Traffic each carry the website domain beside the company ID. Normalise your own domains the same way every time, as domain matching describes, and store the company ID on your record.
- Assemble the record. One query returns the shape an enrichment call would: who the company is in the index, what it runs, its stated headcount, the traffic tier of its website and its open roles.

Three properties of the result set it apart from an attribute record.
- Every value has a date. Employee Headcount gives the headcount a company states, with its as-of date, so the record shows the figure and the day it held, and the series shows how it moved over time.
- The stack is dated. Technology Stack gives the first-seen and last-seen dates of each technology, and Technology Changes records every adoption and removal with its observation time. A first observation sets a baseline and is never counted as a change. The marketing stack dataset recognises a curated catalogue of technologies across 68 categories, from advertising and analytics to commerce, CRM and infrastructure.
- A match is a company ID. A domain that resolves carries the company ID and every dataset behind it. Keep the domains still to be matched in their own queue, and show an empty value as empty, never as a zero.
The record can go further than an attribute lookup. Website Profile adds the markets, languages, currencies, apps and key pages of each website. Intent Scores adds a weekly score per topic with the evidence behind it, Company News adds announcements classified into 13 event types, and Company Funding adds private capital raises reported in regulatory filings, and funding announcements. Each joins on the same company ID.
If you need an answer in the same request as a sign-up form, look the domain up in your own copy, which the API feeds keep current. The guide to enriching company records in your data product goes through the match, the refresh and the licence for embedding. Where some of your records do live in HubSpot, the guide to bringing external company signals into HubSpot shows how to load the same datasets there.
Frequently asked questions
Is Clearbit still available after the HubSpot acquisition?
HubSpot completed the acquisition in December 2023. Clearbit's site says it has joined HubSpot and offers a login for Clearbit customers, and the Clearbit Terms of Service, last updated in May 2025, say HubSpot provides the Clearbit services under the Clearbit brand. Clearbit's changelog announced the end of its free tools on 30 April 2025. How a new customer buys Clearbit on its own today is not stated on those pages, so ask HubSpot.
What is HubSpot Breeze Intelligence?
Breeze Intelligence is the name HubSpot used in 2024 when it introduced its data enrichment and buyer intent solution. HubSpot's help centre now documents the feature as data enrichment. It fills properties on contact and company records in HubSpot, identifies a company by its domain and, according to the help article, draws on HubSpot's commercial dataset, third-party providers and publicly available information.
What happened to the Clearbit Logo API and free tools?
Clearbit's changelog announced that the free Clearbit Platform, the Weekly Visitor Report, Clearbit Connect, the TAM Calculator and the free Slack integration would be discontinued on 30 April 2025. Later entries said the public Logo API address would no longer be available after 8 December 2025, and that subscribers could still reach logos through authenticated APIs as part of a Clearbit subscription.
Which Clearbit alternatives enrich company records by API?
People Data Labs documents a Company Enrichment API that matches a company from a name, a website, a ticker or a social profile. D&B Direct+ from Dun & Bradstreet delivers business data organised around the D-U-N-S Number through APIs. Veridion shows a company match endpoint. ZoomInfo Data-as-a-Service delivers company and contact data through APIs, webhooks and batches. Fokals delivers firmographic, technographic, hiring and intent data by REST API and as bulk files.
What can Fokals add to a company record?
The technologies a company runs, each with its first-seen and last-seen dates; its stated headcount over time; the monthly traffic tier of its website; its open roles by job function and seniority; a weekly intent score per topic with the evidence behind it; and its announcements, classified into 13 event types. Every dataset joins on one stable company ID, and a listed company carries its ticker, MIC, ISIN, LEI and FIGI.
How do I enrich company records by domain without HubSpot?
Keep a map from website domain to the provider's company key, and join your records to it. With Fokals, Technology Stack and Web Traffic carry the website domain beside a stable company ID. Load the bulk files once, keep them current through the API feeds, normalise your own domains the same way each time, and store the company ID on each record so that every other dataset joins on it.
Can Fokals data be embedded in a product?
Yes. Fokals is licensed by written agreement, and embedding in a product and redistribution are two of the three uses an agreement can cover, beside internal use. A bulk export arrives as a package of files with a manifest that names the period, the label versions and the licence, so the terms travel with the data your product loads.
